Eat To Live, Organic DinnerIt was an unusually green group that dined at Bart's Beanery Monday night. The group of about 30 people from Windsor and neighboring towns enjoyed a three course organic meal. It was the first meeting of "Eat To Live" a group who's mission is to indulge in an informal organic meal once a month and discuss healthy living ideas. The group is part of the Green Committee, part of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce.
Jane Garibay, Executive Director of the Chamber and Paula Pierce, past president, greeted members of the new group as they came in with generous donations for the Windsor Food Bank. Many pounds of canned goods were donated as well as $160 in cash donations.
After a brief introduction about the group, the lovely organic dinner was served including green salad, lentil soup, roasted vegetables and dinner rolls followed by vanilla quinoa pudding.
After dinner, while folks enjoyed their organic tea or coffee, the evening's speaker, Raye Hodgson, gave a brief but enlightening talk on the theories and realities of GM (genetically modified) foods. Some lively Q and A followed.
Next month the group is planning a special Valentine's organic spaghetti dinner on Monday, February 14th. A representative from Peaceful River Massage will discuss "How to integrate massage into a healthy lifestyle." There will be a fee of $10 to cover costs.
"We're happy to host the Eat to Live dinner," says Bart's owner, Don Trinks. To RSVP for the next dinner (Monday, Feb. 14 at Bart's Beanery), go to www.WindsorCC.org and click on the Eat To Live event on the calendar or call 860-688-5165.
