Below is the speech Ashley gave at the Shad Derby Gala! She was awesome!

Good Evening, My name is Ashley Nolan and I'm Ms. Beanery. As a child, I always had a lot of energy to burn, so my Aunt taught me to play the piano. I drove my family to distraction banging away on the piano keys and humming made up music in a monotone. At five I made my life's plans; at six I would become a famous musician, at seven I would be married, at eight I would have kids and at nine I would be dead. When I got to fifth grade I thought of myself as a musical genius and decided to take up the flute as well. It was a disaster, but it made me campaign my parents for piano lessons. I thought I was well on my way to success until the end of the year piano recital when I realized I was just some kid pounding on the ivories instead of tickling them like everyone else. It wasn't until I learned how to play the moonlight sonata that I knew what made the other's performers, it wasn't talent and skill, it was passion. From that point on music was a part of me, not notes on a page. People even stopped running from the room when I sat down to the piano. While I no longer aspire to be a famous musician, on stressful days I play the Moonlight Sonata, but my fingers don't hammer the keys they dance across them. Thank you.
