.
Every week, scores of grown ups enjoy a traditional car cruise night at Bart's Drive-In Restaurant and The Beanery Bistro in Windsor. Now, it's the kids' turn! As Greater Hartford children get ready to start school, a special community event invites them to come show off their own bicycles and tricycles!
On Monday, August 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Congregation Beth Ahm of Windsor will host the first-ever "Cruise Night for Kids" to be held at Bart's & The Beanery at 55 Palisado Ave. (Route 159) in Windsor.
All area children are invited to decorate their bicycles and tricycles and bring them to display for the pleasure of all attendees. There will be 1st and 2nd prizes presented for the best decorations in four age categories (ages 0-5, ages 6-9, ages 10-14, and ages 15-18). Free bicycle and tricycle registration and display will begin at 5 p.m. and judging will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The fun event will feature face-painting, sidewalk chalk drawing, music, and special raffles. In addition, Windsor Police officers will be on-site to provide bicycle and back-to school safety tips for children and their parents.
Admission and registration is free for the first-ever Kids' Cruise Night. No advance registration is necessary. A portion of any food purchases that night at Bart's and The Beanery eat-in and take-out will be donated to Congregation Beth Ahm of Windsor. The deli and grill menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, clams, chicken, salads ice cream, milk shakes and more. Visit www.bartsdrivein.com for more menu information.
The Cruise Night for Kids will be held rain or shine as there will be a giant round tent from Euphoria Event Solutions to provide shelter, if necessary. For more information about Cruise Night for Kids, call 860-688-9989
